Movement Analysis Laboratory

Health is closely related to moving, the basic element of which is walking. Walking is one of our most natural movements that affects the functioning of the whole body system. The essential features of this are the position of the spine and the pelvis, the movements of joints, the condition of the feet and their arches, or the pressing of soles to the ground. In our motion analysis laboratory, we perform a special computer-controlled motion analysis using a device that is able to analyze the movement system of the human body and thus provide a precise and in-depth examination thereof.

We measure the baseline health status of the patient by measuring their body composition. The measured values show the separate weight of all the parts that make up the human body, thus comprising the total body weight of the person being measured. These values can be compared to normal reference values, and the system calculates the risk regarding the person’s lifestyle. Afterwards, realistic goals can be set within a musculoskeletal rehabilitation and lifestyle program.

Multidirectional trunk analysis
The innovative software and the advanced camera system allow the analysis of the complex motion patterns of the spine and the pelvis as well as the static and dynamic visualization of objective data. In standing, it displays the form of the trunk in three planes, and the motility of the trunk related to the spinal column can be observed using the dynamic measurement function.

Isometric muscle strength measurement
During this test, we measure the isometric muscle strength of the main stabilizer muscle groups, and by comparing the results to reference values, the maximal force exerted by the tested muscle group can be established. We compare the muscles and their counterparts on the other side of the body, the agonist and antagonist muscles, and the differences between individual measurements.

EMG
The motion analysis devices are combined with a local EMG device, which measures the activity of the selected muscle. This test can be performed while standing or walking.

Standing and gait characteristics
This means a precise, quick and comprehensive gait analysis, the analysis of the interdependencies between posture and gait, and the exploration of loading disturbances. Step length and width and the ratio of swing and stance phases are important biomechanical parameters when comparing the two sides in order to analyze the quality of gait. This allows the comparison of these objective and quantitative results before and after treatment.

Plantar pressure distribution
The built-in sensors of the measurement platform reveal the characteristics of the foot arch, the maximum points of pressure, the extent of maximal load and its differences between the two feet, and also the distribution of pressure per segments. During the measurement, the position of the center of pressure is continuously displayed and its path - which is closely related to the balance of the body - can be graphically visualized.
